Better Fishing with 2 Bald Biologists Live Podcast - Aug. 20, 2024
Video from Facebook Live stream of the Better Fishing with 2 Bald Biologists Podcast from Aug. 20, 2024.
Avid anglers Corey Oakley and Ben Ricks are North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission biologists. Listen in as they help anglers understand more about the fish and fisheries in North Carolina while promoting conservation of valuable natural resources. Their monthly podcasts link the research and surveys conducted by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission to fishing in North Carolina. Our hope is to help anglers learn more about fish so they can catch more fish. Expert guests include biologists, anglers, and fishing industry professionals to talk fish and fishing in North Carolina. And yes, we are bald and we are biologists, so let's talk fishing!
Subscribe and follow on iTunes, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Stitcher, Google Play, Amazon, and many more. The podcast is also available on Pocket Casts, Overcast, Audible, Castbox, Castro, Podbean, Acast, and Goodpods. Statewide Canada Goose Banding
Переглядів 1589 годин тому
Statewide Canada goose banding occurred in June 2024. Staff from Wildlife Management, Land & Water Access and Wildlife Law Enforcement, as well as many volunteers worked together to make this a successful goose banding effort for 2024. Our target goal of 2,000 adult Canada geese banded statewide was achieved once again, largely due to this team approach. Once the banding and harvest data are pu...

This proposal to force people to register their kayak is nothing less than an attempt to specifically tax people who cannot afford to buy and/or keep a motorboat. It is a tax on the less affluent members of society and it is akin to proposing that you register a bicycle. I implore you to contact your State representative and urge them to not allow the NC Wildlife Resources Commission to get away with this sort of plundering. I also implore you to pay attention to those on this commission who support this proposal and work to see that they are removed from the commission and replaced with sensible people who understand that the people of this State should not be subjected to yet another cash grab by bureaucrats.

Despite having visited the North Carolina mountains at least once a year at minimum, I have never heard these birds broadcast their call throughout the woods at all. Normally I go up there to visit family on thanksgiving week (the only birds seemingly active during this time are crows and/or ravens), spring break, vacation, and other special occasions. I’ve always been happy visiting there (except this year’s spring break when I had to go up there for my grandma’s funeral after she died early December of last year from a combination of Parkinson’s disease and dementia), and hope to someday live up there. Down here, in central Alabama, we don’t have any Whippoorwills, just birds you commonly see around the southeast. Cardinals, Chickadees, Wrens, Hummingbirds, and those greedy Mourning Doves that are often gorging themselves at my mom’s bird feeder. At least the noises they make are better than the constant droning of cicadas in the summertime. I’ll add these birds to my list of reasons why I want to live in the Tar Hill State, assuming I’ll be able to hear one in person that is.

You should have planned to get more trout from other locations to make up for the deficit. You're already not stocking enough fish now. The demand increases exponentially every year. I understand the need for the renovation. It's way past due! It's just going to be irritating to have less fish available, considering you don't do anything to prevent or minimize poaching.
